Content strategy (see our previous article on this topic) answers "why post." A content calendar answers "when, and in what order." Without one, even the best list of ideas ends up improvised at the last minute — which is why so many accounts post in bursts and then vanish for two weeks.
One month, three formats, a simple rhythm
You don't need a complex tool to start: a table with the days of the week and three columns is enough.
- Posts (2 to 3 per week): the regular, informative or product-focused base.
- Stories (almost daily): behind-the-scenes, polls, reminders — a quick format, low creative pressure.
- Reels (1 to 2 per week): the format that needs the most preparation, so plan it first in the month.
Plan Reels first
Since Reels take the most time to film and edit, placing them first in the calendar keeps them from always being pushed back — which happens systematically if they're scheduled "last, whenever there's time."
Filling the calendar without reinventing everything every week
Three sources are enough to fill a month without running out of ideas:
- Customer questions identified during the strategy work (reusable over several months, from different angles).
- Your own business calendar: new arrivals, events, the real seasonality of your trade.
- A regular reminder of what you offer, without repeating it identically — vary the format (a real customer testimonial if you have one, a demonstration, an open question).
Prepare in advance, publish at the right time
Preparing several posts ahead of time (for example on weekends for the following week) clearly separates the creative work from day-to-day management. It's often this simple change, more than any sophisticated tool, that keeps a calendar going long-term.
The calendar is not an end in itself
A regular posting rhythm builds an audience, but doesn't by itself guarantee business inquiries. The next step — turning that interest into a tracked contact — is the subject of the last article in this series.
If keeping up this rhythm every month becomes hard alongside running your business, that's exactly what our social media management service handles: calendar, creation and publishing managed for you, with clear monthly reporting.
